Yesterday, I was talking to a wise friend who’s eighteen -year- old daughter ran away with a guy she met on the internet. In the course of the conversation, she said scripture indicates “you leave the prodigal alone” until they come to their senses.
She spoke a powerful truth!
So many of us have children or loved ones who have “run away” or “wandered off” into a life of rebellion. Watching them walk down a path of destruction is heartbreaking.
As hard as it is–let them go and pray God will send the hounds of heaven after them. Pray for God to do whatever it takes to turn their life around. The consequences for the prodigal can be severe. Many do not turn to God without suffering.
Once again, we have an opportunity to “let go”. So much of life is letting go of something dear to us.
Pray the hand of God will be heavy upon them and He will do whatever is necessary to transform their lives.
In the meantime–let them go and have peace!
