Life is hard. Serving God is not always easy either.
He sometimes never does what we ask of Him. We pray, we cry out and beg for help in our lives, marriages, and families, and often He seems to be a million miles away.
We can eventually give up and blame our misery on Him, as if it is His fault. The truth is we often make godless decisions and then we expect Him to bless our mess and disobedience. We marry godless people who pose as men and women of faith only to find out we were deceived.
The Lord showed me many years ago when I am deceived it is because I chose to be!
We want God’s blessings without repentance or giving our lives completely to Him. We have no intention of changing anything. We play games with God and think He doesn’t see our rebellion and stubbornness of heart. Our lives are so full of compromise it is hard to find God in our midst. In spiritual mixture, we make up our own dead religion which leads us to a dead-end street and a worthless life.
I have learned through my long pilgrimage with the Lord that when He doesn’t answer my prayers, and His answers are “no” or “not now” He is after something deep in my life that needs to change. He is after deep hidden motives, bad attitudes, hidden sin, compromise, rebellion, self-seeking and self-absorption, and He is calling me to death of self, the world, and everything I hold dear.
We have a choice–we can choose rebellion and our own way, or we can cling to God even when He appears silent. Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus and Jesus draws us to God. His desire is to remove everything that hinders our relationship with God.
If our lives are miserable, it’s not God’s fault. It’s our fault, and the result of our decisions and the consequences of our sin.
Until we seek God in His holiness and line up our lives with His plan and will, we will live meaningless, empty lives. We waste our gifts and talents and accomplish nothing of significance.
Stop blaming God and start seeking Him while He can be found.
