Being an early riser, I have seen many a day dawn in all of its glory. One day this week, I was up and on the front porch around 4 a.m. Darkness was thick and the sky black. Before dawn, there is a still quietness and silence before the birds awaken.
The glory of creation awakening to a new day almost takes my breath.
In the darkness, the birds start singing and in the dawn chorus their songs are often louder and livelier. There is a synchronization of song that reverberates the darkness.
For me, the Lord reveals His glory in these marvelous moment of darkness. It’s as if all of creation is praising and glorifying His name. As the sun starts to rise, the sky often turns a beautiful hue of pink mixed with the pale yellow of the morning sky.
As the sun comes over the horizon, the brilliance of a magnificent sunrise captivates as we watch a new day dawn. Sometimes, the sunrise is breathtaking!
It seems my most powerful prayer times occur during these early morning hours.
Jesus often went into the desert to pray before dawn. Imagine how He felt as He watched the sunrise, knowing He was there when it was created at the beginning of time. Even though He was/is God, He submitted Himself to the discipline of prayer, arising in the darkness of the dawn to seek the face of God His Father.
The Trinity—God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is beyond our comprehension and finite understanding.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2
And God said……………….let all creation come forth. (paraphrase).
The creation of a new day always makes me think about the beginning of time, when God spoke in the darkness and called all things into existence.
If you are not an early riser, give yourself an amazing gift of getting up early and going outside to welcome the dawning of a new day!! You might want to pray and glorify the God of your salvation.
