The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.
Psalm 145:18
I have always been a dreamer by day and by night. God speaks to me through dreams and sometimes I hear Him most clearly at night and early morning. This morning I was in and out of “snippet” (short) dreams when I heard Him say, “Write about drawing near to Me”.
God is sovereign over all things–creation, history, universe, and certainly our world and lives. We can dispute that fact and fight against it, but it still doesn’t change the truth.
The COVID-19 virus is a mystery in many ways, even to scientist and physicians. How could anything cause death and destruction around the globe, shut down nations, and decimate international economies? God has known about this from the beginning of time and He sees and knows what each of us is going through.
God is calling us to Himself. He wants us to draw near and love Him and welcome Him into our lives.
Most of us are too busy and preoccupied to seek and know God. Our lives have “grown and gone” beyond Him, or at least that’s what we think. As we become too busy to really care about what should matter, we lose our childhood faith, if we had any, and move into adulthood with our spiritual foundation fractured. What is really sad are people who have never known God and know nothing about Him.
We are now in a national crisis, and if there has ever been a time for us to turn individually and as a nation back to God, now is the time. The fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge. His ways are mysterious and hidden behind the veil not seen by the natural eye.
He invites us to draw near where He can be found.
God wants to make our path straight so we do not need to walk in confusion and uncertainty, even in the middle of a crisis. We need to serve God wholeheartedly, and not with a divided heart. It is easy for us to slowly drift away into the crowd and forget that He is knocking on the door of our heart.
He offers us the upward path where the air is crisp and the view is exquisite. So, take His hand and let us walk the ancient paths that lead to life and blessing. Come to the quiet place daily to hear His voice and sit in His presence. Do not be too busy or too tired to come away with Him.
His word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
