I have spent a lot of time in the past few years reading lots of books and recommending those books to you. Today I would like to seriously recommend my own book.
I would like to provide a little of the backstory about Whispers. I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit when I was 25 years old. Shortly thereafter, a friend gave me a copy of the books Come Away My Beloved and God Calling. Through these devotionals, I learned God’s children are expected to hear His voice and He speaks, so I went on a quest to learn to hear His voice and write down what I heard.
My attitude was I had rather miss God than not try to learn to hear. If I was presumptuous and missed it, at least I was trying to learn to hear.
My book, Whispers of the Spirit (“Whispers”), resulted from a lifetime of listening to the voice of God and transcribing what I heard.
I would like to share some powerful words I have heard throughout the years that landed in Whispers. So many of my readers tell me they read it every morning before they start their day. THEN of course they go to the scripture to receive their daily manna. Here are some of my most precious words to me personally. The book allows you to enjoy these excerpts in the full context.
Discern My Whisper (Whispers 1) Do not second guess what I have done in your life. My plan unfolds by divine direction and guidance. Stop fretting about the next step and move forward in faith. Guidance and direction from the Holy Spirit is often spoken in a quiet, soft voice, a whisper. It is imperative that you learn to hear and discern My voice in order to listen closely to what I have to say.
Quiet Stillness of Dawn (Whispers 2) As the sun rises in its glory, casting pink hues across the pale blue sky, the misty fog covering the earth slowly ascends and disappears. The quiet stillness of the dawn restores the soul and draws the human heart into My presence.
Stay Off Memory Lane (Whispers 5) Wandering down memory lane seldom takes you to a good destination; rather, you end up on a dead-end street. Meandering through the mire of your past only gets you stuck in your regrets. (This “word” came from a dream. Stay Off Memory Lane is one of my favorites in the book.)
Feeding On My Word (Whispers 10) There is truth and power in My Word, the storehouse of wisdom and source of life. Feeding on My Word will bring health and vitality. Make it your daily nourishment and your portion. My Word binds evil and releases blessings to My children.
All Things Made Beautiful (Whispers 14) My child, do not weep and be heavy laden, for I will give you rest for your soul. I have made everything beautiful in My time. All life has a natural flow like a peaceful river meandering through the countryside,. It flows where it will within My boundaries, and it winds like a ribbon across the landscape. Your life is much like a river. You have no control over how it winds and takes sharp turns. As you rest in Me and seek Me daily, I will sovereignly make those sharp turns in your life flow to blessing.
These are only a few of my most favorite words from the Lord. If you do not have a copy of Whispers, I think you will find it a rich blessing that awakens your soul.
