And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the Lord’s guidance or seek my blessings.
Zephaniah 1:6,12 (Old Testament)
I have been meandering through the Old Testament and reading the major and minor prophets. The Old Testament is so rich with treasure and insight for life. It also reveals God’s lack of tolerance for our superficial relationship with Him and our complacency.
We may half seek God and then get mad because He doesn’t play our games. We may say “I really sought God and prayed,” when in fact our lives are steeped in rebellion and self-serving.
Let’s take a close look at our lives, families, church, and country. The above scripture is a picture of where so many of us find ourselves. How many people do you know who are on fire for God? Who has any passion for Him at all? Who really worships God, seeks Him and His blessings?
We can be sure that He is searching with lanterns in America’s darkest corners to punish those who sit in complacency in their sins.
God sees every move we make, everything we do and every thought and intention of our hearts. Nothing is hidden from Him.
The evil doers in our country will think all is well, and they will continue to destroy everything in their path, but their day will come when God brings His recompense and judgment.
The complacent are like the Laodicean Church of Revelation 3 — neither hot nor cold, so God says, “I will spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16.
God was so angry with Israel’s religious hypocrisy and rebellion He let the Babylonians burn Jerusalem to the ground in 586 BC. Don’t think God is turning His all-seeing eyes away from America’s hypocrisy. Judgment day is coming upon the wicked.
Today is the day of salvation. Seek Him while He can be found.
